Kazakhstan is interested in exporting goods to Qatar

The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan A.A. Smailov held talks with the Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdurakhman Al Thani as part of participation in the third Qatar Economic Forum in Doha.

Reported that the parties discussed a wide range of issues of cooperation between the countries. In particular, as specified, prospects for strengthening further cooperation in the areas of trade, agro-industrial complex, investment attraction and civil aviation were considered.

Alikhan Smailov noted that in recent years there has been a consistent development of bilateral Kazakh-Qatari relations, which was facilitated by active contacts between the leaders of the two states.

"Astana intends to maintain and strengthen a high level of cooperation with Doha both in bilateral and multilateral formats," Alikhan Smailov said.

He emphasized that one of the strategic sectors for the economy of Kazakhstan is the agro-industrial complex, which has a huge potential for further growth.

"Currently, a large number of Kazakhstani companies - producers of meat and meat products, as well as food products in general - express interest in exporting their goods to the Qatari market. In this regard, I think it is expedient to speed up the procedures for the approval of halal certificates between our countries," the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan noted.

In addition, he outlined the growing interest of Kazakhstanis and Qataris in tourist trips in both directions. In particular, as specified, this was facilitated by an increase in the number of direct flights of Qatar Airways to Almaty. In turn, the Kazakh company Fly Arystan also plans to start regular flights from Astana to Doha by the end of this year.

For his part, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdurrahman Al Thani expressed readiness to strengthen effective cooperation across the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation.
